  • City- Since cities differ from one another in terms of their population, cost of living, demand for the medium, cost of labour, general price level etc so accordingly the rates for advertising on hoardings are also bound to differ from city to city. The bigger metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad etc have very demand for hoardings besides advertising through hoardings in these places give brands a very high reach due to large population and traffic in these cities.
  • Locality- The locality in which the hoarding is placed is the key factor determining the effectiveness of hoarding ad campaigns. Since the reach of these ads is determined by the footfall and traffic in the particular area, the rates for hoardings in areas hosting huge crowds of people on a regular basis is on the higher side as compared to those in the less crowded areas.
  • Illumination- Illumination plays a very important role in increasing the visibility of hoarding ads and also in determining the cost of these. With hoardings there are 3 options available for advertisers to choose from- Backlit ads, these are ads that have an internal illumination source behind the display and are printed on a slightly translucent surface allowing the light to pass through them giving them 24-hour visibility. While this characteristic of backlit ads creates extremely attractive and attention-grabbing results, it also increases the cost of the medium. The second option that advertisers can go for is Front-lit hoardings, these are illuminated hoardings and have visibility across day and night just like backlit ones but the illumination source is external and the surface on which these are printed is regular unlike backlit hoardings. The rates for these are less than backlit ads. The third option that advertisers can go for are the non-lit hoarding options, while these ads have the lowest rates amongst the three, it must also be considered that they have visibility only during the day time.
  • Size- Size in another important factor determining both the effectiveness as well as the rate of hoardings. Different areas have hoardings of different sizes. The size of the ad determines the printing charges and thus larger the size of the ad the higher would be the cost. But at the same time larger hoardings stand out in relation to the smaller ones and are also visible from great distance.
  • Quantity- Quantity is an important determinant for the price of Hoardings. While advertisers have the option of buying as many and as few hoardings that they want, it is advisable to go for a considerable number at a time as it would not only give the brand the benefit of wider reach, visibility and repeated exposure but also give the advertiser better bargaining power and thus lower cost per medium.
  • Duration- Duration is another important factor that influence the rates for hoarding ads, while theseare usually available for a minimum time period of one month but the advertiser does have the option to rent the hoarding for a longer duration. Buying ad space for longer duration would reduce the average cost per month. Besides the advertiser doesn’t need to pay anything for printing and mounting of the hoarding every month.
  • Agency- Agency or the vendor you select for the execution of your campaign also creates a vast difference in cost.
